Policies

All rats are only sold at or after 8 weeks of age or older. (Dwarfs 10–12+ weeks.)
All rats must be sold in same-sex pairs or larger groups; I do not sell single rats.
All adopters must be 18 years or older, or have a parent/guardian purchase on their behalf.
You must fill out an application and be approved before any rats will be sold to you.
You must read, agree to, and sign my Adoption Contract before purchasing a rat from me.
All rats are sold as pets only and under a no-breeding contract unless you have my direct consent. I am willing to work with other breeders.

Once you have chosen your rats, a 50% non‑refundable deposit is required to hold them until pickup. (You may also pay in full if preferred.)
Deposits and any adoption payments are non-refundable, unless something happens to your chosen rats while in my care.
The remainder of your adoption fee must be paid before or at pickup. Cash is accepted at pickup.
Babies must be picked up within 12 days of reserving. After that, additional care/supply fees may apply.
Babies are available to be reserved only after they have completed final temperament testing, typically between 6–10 weeks old, depending on line and litter size.
TTRY is a closed rattery. Adopters cannot enter the rat room to protect the health and safety of the animals.
I am always happy to provide photos, videos, and updates to help match you with the perfect companions.

We are located in Rome, GA, and offer local pickup by appointment only.

Delivery is available within a limited radius (approx. 100 miles) and is charged at the current Government Mileage Rate.
Payment must be completed in full prior to the delivery date for all transported rats.
For both pickup and meet-ups, please arrive with a chew-proof travel container. We can provide carriers for $25, but please give us a week notice if you will need one.

All pick-ups are scheduled in the Eastern Time Zone.
Please arrive on time; we can only wait up to 15 minutes past your scheduled pick-up.
If traveling long distance, allow extra time for delays.
Arriving more than 15 minutes late will require rescheduling.
A no-call/no-show (outside of emergencies) will be considered a cancellation, your deposit will be forfeited, and the rats will become available to other adopters.
Repeated rescheduling may also result in cancellation and forfeiture of your deposit.

All rats must be picked up within 14 days of placing your deposit, unless the delay is due to an issue on our end.
After 14 days, a boarding fee of $6 per rat, per day will apply.
If rats are not picked up within a reasonable time after the 14-day window, we reserve the right to make them available for adoption again.
If you know you will need longer than 14 days, special boarding arrangements can be made in advance.

This is a baseline pricing guide and subject to change. Combination of coat types is priced per rat.

Accepted Payment Methods

Pedigrees are the recorded lineage of each rat (their family tree).
I keep detailed records of all my lines, including full pedigrees.
Pedigrees are only offered to approved breeders. For pet-only placements, a pedigree is not necessary and may unintentionally encourage breeding.
I am always transparent about my rats’ pairings, and all parents, line history, and background information are posted on both my website and Facebook.
All rats come with a birth certificate.
AFRMA registration papers are available for $10 per rat.

While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee that any rat will be completely free of parasites or pathogens.
If you or someone in your household is immunocompromised, elderly, or under the age of 8, we strongly recommend doing additional research and carefully weighing the risks before bringing any rodent into your home.
By purchasing a rat from us and accepting the terms outlined in this form, you acknowledge and agree that Trippy Tails Rattery is not liable for any health-related issues that may arise after adoption.

We offer a 5-day health guarantee against upper respiratory infections (URIs).
If your rat shows clear signs of a URI within 5 days of pick-up, we will offer a free replacement.
Please note: Sneezing alone is common when rats adjust to a new home and does not automatically indicate illness.
Veterinary bills or medical expenses are not covered.

We provide a one-year genetic health guarantee.
If your rat passes away within the first year due to a genetic issue (cancer, stroke, seizures, etc.), we will replace the rat with the same variety at no cost.
If that line is no longer available, you may choose a replacement from what is currently available.
We do not cover veterinary or medical expenses.

Returns and exchanges are handled case-by-case and are at our sole discretion.
If you can no longer care for your rats at any time, we will gladly take them back.
Please do not rehome any rats adopted from us without consulting Trippy Tails Rattery first.
Keeping track of all offspring helps us monitor the long-term health, temperament, and stability of our lines and maintain the integrity of our breeding program.
